Baby Lips gets Glossy

Thursday, July 9, 2015

Happy Friday, friends! I'm so glad it's the weekend, even if I have to work on Saturday. After work, we'll head on over to celebrate a sweet little boy's first birthday! Do y'all have any fun plans for the weekend?

I have always been a fan of Maybelline's Baby Lips lip balm. I always keep a tube in my makeup bag to throw on my chapped lips. I literally have chapped lips all year long, and it is the most annoying thing ever. I don't know why but they are chapped even in the summer! No matter how often I exfoliate and moisturize them, they are never really smooth. Womp womp.  I really love Baby Lips because the menthol in it cools my lips and does help medicate those bad boys.

So, when I found out Maybelline came out with a glossy formulation, I was so excited to try it out. I'll be honest…they are not that easy to find! I am still on a mission to find more stores that carry them, but so far, I've only seen them at Target. I've searched Ulta, CVS and Walgreens in the hopes that more stores carry them, but I'm sure it will just be a matter of time.

I'm not lying when I say this. This stuff is awesome. My lips have honestly never felt better and I truly think it is because of the medicated gloss. I start by adding my Carmex, then my YSL lipstick then layer it with Baby Lips Life's a Peach. Ever since I've been doing this, my lips have been baby smooth…see what I did there?  I love a nude lip and it's honestly what you'll find me wearing on a daily basis. This peachy nude adds the perfect amount of shine and a hint of color. From the YouTube videos I've seen on these, they don't provide a lot of color. I actually kind of like that because I don't typically wear a gloss on it's own. I always wear a lipstick underneath, so I don't want too much color in my gloss to compete with my lipstick.

Go check them out and let me know what you think! I'm dying to try more but can't decide on which color to try next.

Hope y'all have a great weekend!!

Recent Old Navy Haul

Wednesday, July 8, 2015

Old Navy has been killing it this year. I feel like I say that every year, but they really have done a great job of coming out with affordable and trendy styles. Is it just me or has the quality somewhat gotten better over the years? There are still a few pieces I have that are thinner or not made as well, but overall,  it is good quality for a great price.

I have been trying to do a really good job lately and not spend a lot of money on clothes, makeup or unnecessary items, but hey…when Old Navy is having a 50% off sale plus free shipping…count me in!

Here are a few items I have gotten over the past few weeks. I actually have a few of these items literally in transit to me right now so I can't review them, but I know I'll love them!

I'd love to hear your recent favorites from Old Navy! Also, is it crazy that I am already anticipating their fall and winter line? Ahh. Can't wait!

Cajun Shrimp with Garlic Parmesan Cream Sauce Recipe

Tuesday, July 7, 2015

So yes, basically shrimp alfredo is what it is. And, it was amazing. We had an impromptu Tuesday night dinner with friends that also happen to be neighbors. My text to Grace went something like this "Hey! Y'all want to come over tonight?" Her response, "Of course, we will bring the wine!" That is a great friend right there.

I was stalking one of my favorite blogs today and happened to come across this gem. And, it was simple, easy but so delicious. It will definitely be in rotation in our household! Put some cheesy garlic bread and salad on the side, and you've got a delicious meal!

You can find the full recipe here. The original recipe calls for shrimp, but chicken or Italian sausage would be a wonderful substitute if you don't like shrimp. Making any type of Italian sauce can be intimating, but it just takes patience. It is so worth it to make it from scratch rather than from a jar. Trust me. Our guests were quite impressed it was homemade from scratch.

Seriously. So, so easy. You have to try this and please let me know what you think!

And of course, to end the night… we had to watch Shark Week! Are you loving it or is that just us?

Hope you are having a great week!!

July 4th Weekend Recap

Sunday, July 5, 2015

I love having long weekends, but sometimes it feels like I need a vacation from vacation! Going back to work on Monday will not be easy, so I will just re-live the weekend while we cheer on the woman's USA soccer team where dominating is clearly an understatement!

Andrew and I don't typically travel for July 4th because crowded beaches just aren't our thing. We'd rather stay at home and relax with good friends. However, we didn't want to just sit at home on our holiday either. On Friday (which totally felt like Saturday), we ventured out to a newer restaurant, Sidewall Pizza and then headed to a local Brewery.

Have you ever been to a brewery that has an entire wall of board games to choose from? Genius. Play your favorite game and sip on brewskies? I'm in.

Our group becomes a little competitive when it comes to Phase 10. It is a crowd favorite of our friends and it's always so much fun to play!

Did I mention there was a food truck? I might have ordered one of everything from the menu…oops! These BBQ ribs were top notch.

Are you getting the hint that we love card games? How beautiful is this counter top? Check out Steph's post on the search for the perfect counter top.

You might remember my post here on our recent trip to Saint Paul Mountain Vineyards, and it is very much our happy place. We love it so much that we had to bring some of our best friends to share our happiness.

Another food truck in all its glory. It did not disappoint. A very talented song writer, Hope Griffin, entertained us with live music with a few originals and a few covers.

And Mila, the winery's precious puppy, was the cutest and smallest Great Pyrenees and definitely enjoyed playing with Tatey.

Hendersonville is filled with so many gems, Saint Paul being one of our favorites, but we wanted to try another vineyard that was across the street. We didn't spend as much time here, but we will definitely be back in the fall.

The blogger in action. How beautiful are these hanging wine bottles? Can you imagine the extra touch it would give with tea lights to light up the vineyard?

After leaving our happy place, we headed back to town and devoured a low country boil. It was the most perfect way to end the long holiday.

And, I'll leave you with one more picture that beautifully captures us enjoying two of our favorite things. Best friends and food!

Have a great start to the week! Linking up with Biana today for Weekending.

Working Through the Face Series

Happy Wednesday and first day of July! I can't believe we are half way through the year. Half way. Has it flown by for you too?

Y'all know I am a beauty addict and absolutely love beauty products. As I was going through my makeup collection this morning to get ready for work, I thought it would be fun to do a little beauty series each week! I'll focus on one type of product such as products for the overall face such as foundation, bronzer, blush, eyes and lips each week. Then, at the end of the series, I will share my entire collection. Is this something y'all would be interested in?

In the meantime, check out a few of my beauty posts here, here and here.

Let me know your thoughts and I would love to share some of my favorites and go-to products.

Congratulations to Kate S. for winning the Kate Spade Giveaway!!

Have a great day...only a few more days until a long weekend!
