Emerson is Seven Months

Thursday, August 31, 2017

I'm going to be straight up honest. I've been trying to write this post for weeks but I couldn't get my laptop out of my nightstand drawer because it was too full and got stuck. That's a true story and it took me nearly 45 minutes to get it open after emptying every single drawer and literally shaking it out. Ugh.

Anyways. Emerson is 7 months old and this has probably been her biggest month as far as milestones go. She is such a happy baby and is constantly smiling and laughing. It just melts my heart.

Andrew and I took our first vacation away from her. We went to San Francisco and Napa for 5 days. We went with some of our close friends and had the best time, but I'm not going to lie, it wasn't easy being away from her. Between my mom and MIL, she was well taken care of but I missed her like crazy. I pumped the entire time there and brought my milk back with no problems so if anyone has any travel questions while breastfeeding, let me know! I also went to NYC for work last week and brought my milk back too. This was Andrew's first time with her alone for 3 straight days. They did well but I think they were both happy to see me come home. And, I was happy to be home.

So, her biggest "accomplishments" so to speak this month have been:

Sitting up on her own with no support
Pulling up on things and standing with support
Army crawling like crazy
Clapping her hands
Saying "Dada" and "Mama"
We introduced fruits (bananas and blueberries) and she loves them!
We took her golfing for the first time and she loved the golf cart and being outside.

Y'all. This picture below has the sweetest story. I legit starting crying when her teachers told me that she was crawling around the floor, found our family picture and went straight to it and wouldn't leave it. She just stared at it and smiled. Proud mama moment.

Andrew was out of town a few weeks ago (she was right at 7 months) and Emerson and I were hanging out in the living room. She was on her play mat just playing with her toys and all of a sudden, she tried pulling herself up on one of her seats. She was holding on to the edge of her seat but was completely standing up on her own! I immediately called Andrew and he told me to go lower her crib. I'm sorry, what? He was going to be out of town for 2 nights so he thought that if she can pull herself up then she could probably do the same thing in the crib and fall out. So, I pulled out the drill, took apart the crib and then lowered it but then realized I needed another set of hands to put it back together based on the awkwardness of the length of the crib. I called one of Andrew's best friend's who happens to live two doors down and he came to my rescue! So the most logical thing to do that night was to stay up late and baby proof the house.

She can say "dada" and 'mama" and "hi!"
I will have to admit that she said "dada" first, but what kid doesn't? (I actually said mama first when I was little). But, dada is so much easier to say. She doesn't use the words in context or know what they mean, but she has said them.

She is obsessed with remote controls and cell phones. She'll crawl any distance just to get ahold of one.

She loves playing in her exersaucer. She would bounce in it for hours if we'd let her! She is so strong and it's so cute to see her little legs jumping up and down.

She is OBSESSED with the baby pool at school. It's not a real pool, but that's what they call it and they keep little toys and balls in it.

Playing is hard work!

She's still sucking her thumb and I don't know how to break the habit.

All of these pictures below were taken by my mom when she kept her while we were in California. How sweet are the pictures of her during the children's sermon at church?

Just playing around at school!

This picture makes me laugh every time. She actually really likes avocado but you probably can't tell from this face!

We will miss Ms. Natasha! She is no longer at E's school, but we loved having her as a teacher.

She has grown so much and this was probably my favorite month thus far. She is such a happy and loving baby and she is just becoming so alert and fun!
