A Special Birthday

Friday, July 31, 2015

This weekend is Andrew's thirtieth birthday and I can't wait for us to celebrate this special day with his closest friends and family.

I really wanted to throw a surprise party, but he totally would have found out and not be surprised. He was very involved in deciding how he wanted to celebrate and I'm kind of glad. It took the pressure off me and this way, he is getting to do exactly what he wants to do!

As much as we would have loved to throw the entire party in our backyard, we just knew our house wasn't ready for that. We have been in our house for nearly a year, but there is still so much to do. With our house being built in the early 1950's, there isn't much room for 20 plus guests. So, we are eating out at one of our favorite restaurants then heading back to the house for cocktails and I'm sure a few rounds of Cards Against Humanity.

A, I hope you have the most memorable and happiest of birthdays and I can't wait to celebrate many more with you!

Y'all have a great weekend and I'll talk to ya on Monday!

Too Faced Beauty Experts Darlings

Wednesday, July 29, 2015

Hi loves! I feel like I haven't done a beauty post in a while and I picked this little gem up the other day and had to review it. This is the perfect little kit with some of Too Faced's best sellers. I actually went into the store to buy the regular size of the Chocolate Soleil bronzer and then noticed this set. The bronzer is $30 alone and at only $20 for travel deluxe sizes of the Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer, La Creme Color Drenched Lip Cream in Naked Dolly, Better Than Sex Mascara and Shadow Insurance Eye Shadow Primer,  I thought it was a better deal and I was able to try a few products that I haven't tried before. I like testing out products before investing in the full size so this was perfect!

Y'all, this smells amazing and just like the name says. I don't really like chocolate, but the smell of cocoa…yes please! Every time I use this to contour, I love the way it makes me look like I've been in the sun. It is the perfect shade and is not too muddy or orange. Finding the perfect bronzer is hard but this is definitely at the top of my list and once I use up this, I will definitely be purchasing the larger size.

My favorite shade of lipstick is definitely nude. I feel the most like "me" when I have a peachy neutral shade on, but I do love wearing a pop of color at times. I hadn't tried any of the Too Faced lip sticks before, but this lip cream is so moisturizing and is the perfect nude. I have been loving this shade with a layer of this gloss on top.

You all know this is my favorite mascara of all times and doesn't need any further explanation. See why I love it so much here

I haven't tried this yet but can't wait to see if it is better than my favorite shadow base. Once I am able to test it out and give a review, I will let y'all know!

Have you tried this set? I've been loving it so far and think it's such a great deal if you have been wanting to try a few of these products!

Hope y'all have a great day!
xoxo

Linking up with Annie for Thoughts for Thursday!

Tuesday, July 28, 2015

Three years ago today I was waking up to get ready to attend my bridal brunch.
Three years ago today I went to the salon to get my hair and makeup done.
Three years ago today I laughed and giggled with my best friends as the last day as a single lady.
Three years ago today I hugged my parents and grandparents as the last day before my name changed.
Three years ago we spent the entire night dancing and spending time with our best friends.
Three years ago today I married my best friend.

Andrew, you make me the happiest girl in the world and I am so lucky and fortunate to have you as my husband.

I know I always use these same pictures, but they are three of my favorites.

Cheers to three years and many more! I love you!

Another Charleston Recap

Sunday, July 26, 2015

I can't explain how much I have missed y'all these past few days. I apologize for my absence, but I've been so busy with packing, unpacking and traveling back and forth to Charleston for the past two weekends. I went to Charleston last weekend for my sister's bachelorette party, and then went back this  past weekend with a group of friends. This coming week is mine and Andrew's three year anniversary, so we treated it as a mini anniversary trip. We had the best time with some of our closest friends and are so thankful we were able to spend some quality time together!

Ready for picture overload?

The beautiful view from the rooftop of the house we stayed at.

My beautiful friend, Kyle and me on the rooftop.

Courtney and Katie, the amazing hosts of the weekend!

On Saturday, we enjoyed the entire day riding the boat around the harbor and Capers Island.

Two of the cutest little ones.

Andrew and our captain, Steven.

The Arthur Ravenel Bridge

The Battery, where we actually got engaged!

Enjoying pre dinner drinks at 492 before our fabulous dinner at Rue de Jeans.

The husbands played the Ocean Course at Kiawah and had the best time!

So excited I was able to see one of my best friends for a fun dinner at Halls Chophouse

Nothing beats the filet, mac & cheese and mashed potatoes

If you ever visit Charleston, you have to try the Shrimp Royale Nachos at Juanita Greenberg's. Amazing.

Homemade Pina Coladas specially made by Bartender Stuart.

We had such a fun weekend and I'm definitely going to go through withdrawals next weekend when I am here in Greenville, but we have a very special birthday to celebrate so I can't wait for that!

I hope y'all had a great weekend!

Planning Our Next Vacation

Tuesday, July 21, 2015

We are due for a trip...and one that is preferably far away! Besides a short couples trip to Costa Rica two years ago, Andrew and I haven't been on a trip by ourselves since our honeymoon which was 3 years ago. This is where I need your help! We have contacted a travel agent that works for Andrew's company, and she has given us a ton of great information, but I want your suggestions! She has given us suggestions on a few resorts near Cancun such as Excellence Riviera Cancun, which is currently the front runner.

Our requirements:
Outside of the US
All-inclusive resort
Adults only (sorry moms!)
White sand and clear blue water
Great restaurants at the resort
Pool (preferably our own)
Affordable - can't spend what we did on our honeymoon!

Other than that, we aren't really picky because we will really just sit on a beach for the majority of the day! We aren't huge into excursions because that takes effort, right? We are more into sitting on the beach with a book in hand, sipping on cocktails and snacks and getting in the ocean every now and then.

Throwback from our Honeymoon in St. Lucia in 2012.

Thanks for your help! I can't wait to hear your recommendations! We are not set on Mexico, so any location is up for grabs!

Bachelorette Party Weekend Recap

Sunday, July 19, 2015

Hi loves! I feel like I have been so MIA lately but with planning my sister's bachelorette party and traveling to Charleston, life just got busy. Needless to say, we had a great time and most importantly, my sister was surrounded by her very best friends and had a blast.

We arrived to Charleston on Thursday night and ended up at Loggerhead's on Folly Beach. It was a very low key evening and the perfect way to start the weekend.

On Friday, we headed to Folly Beach for a day in the sun, and it sure was hot. I loaded up on the 50 spf so I didn't get burned thank goodness! A few of the others didn't have such luck.

One of my best friends and bridesmaids from my wedding lives in Charleston and was able to join us Friday at the beach and then on Saturday.

My sister wanted to go out one night and then stay in one night. On Friday, we got dressed up and surprised the bride with a limo ride to dinner at Coast

We popped a few bottles of champagne and enjoyed the ride!

Braised grouper with fresh herbs, shitake mushrooms & tomatoes over truffled bacon cheese grits. Aaaamazing.

After dinner, we headed to Upper King and had the best time on the dance floors, and my feet were paying for it the next day! We stayed up way too late but it was okay because we were able to sleep in on Saturday.

On Saturday, we headed to Sullivan's Island and the outlets.
Oh, Poe's Tavern. This place never fails me, and is a must every time I go to Charleston. The restaurant is known for their burgers but I always end up getting the fish tacos. However, this time I decided on the burger with blue cheese topped with buffalo shrimp, and was it delicious… oh my.

How gorgeous is this view? We were so fortunate to stay in one of the bridesmaid's family's beach house in Mt. Pleasant for the weekend and really enjoyed the house and amazing backyard.

The long walk back to the house but so worth every step.

On Saturday night, we showered the bride to be with some gorgeous goodies to wear on her honeymoon. We stayed in, decorated the house with bachelorette themed balloons, confetti and cakes and of course some fun games! We ordered pizza and just hung out, enjoyed each other's company and even watched a movie or two.

Okay, just one more of the backyard because I just can't get enough of it.

I will miss Charleston, but no worries..I'll be back in approximately 4 days so I am looking forward to that already!

Cheers to a short week for me and a successful bachelorette weekend for my beautiful sister and bride to be!

xoxo

Bachelorette Goody Bags

Wednesday, July 15, 2015

Happy Hump Day, friends!
I love a good welcome bag. When we celebrated our wedding almost three years ago this month (wow!) we had a welcome gift bag for all of our guests staying at the hotel. In this bag we put bottled water, Advil, snacks and a homemade map drawing out the best shopping and restaurants and an itinerary made by yours truly.

So, for my sister's bachelorette party this upcoming weekend, I wanted to make each guest a goody bag for the weekend. In this said bag, I ordered a surprise gift from Etsy and a few other little goodies. Since I haven't given them out yet, I don't want to spoil the surprise so I will share next week! But, I'll leave you with this picture of the bags I made last night! Oh, and if you are wondering which invitation I went with....here it is! The goody bags go pretty well with the theme of the party, right?

A Happy 1st Birthday Weekend

Sunday, July 12, 2015

Friends are what make our weekends these days. I keep reminding myself of how thankful we are to live in a city that has some of our best friends here. For the most part, their families are not here in Greenville either, just like our families aren't. We really depend on our friends for this reason, since they are the closest thing we have to family nearby.

With that being said, we celebrated a special one's first birthday this weekend and it was truly magical. He had the best time ever and met some of our out of town friends for the first time. Just seeing our group of friends and his family love on him made my heart happy.

Hop on over to his mama's blog, Stephanie, for your viewing pleasure! She did an amazing job being the perfect host and decorating with the most precious color schemes. I had the honor of taking over the camera so she and Justin could just enjoy the party and not have to worry about taking pictures. Most of the pictures I took were on her camera, but I was able to pick mine up and snag a few too!

Ahh, honey drizzled goat cheese and the most amazing cheese straws ever.

More goat cheese...

Such a cute smash cake and strawberry parfaits!

And, can we talk about how cute these cookies are? Not only were they beautiful, but they are delicious!

The rest of the weekend consisted of me having to work on Saturday before the party, then relaxing and cleaning on Sunday. This will be a short week for me because I am heading to Charleston to celebrate my sister's bachelorette party, so I am thankful for a short week!

How was your weekend?
