This first year has flown by. I cannot believe we have been in our home for exactly one year today…and it is still not decorated the way I want it. Like, an empty front living room with no furniture. I know, "it takes time" is what I constantly hear but I'm just ready for it to be done.
We never thought we'd be in a 1950's ranch style home a year ago. We had a contract on a lot on the other side of town and had already paid an architect to draw out every.single.detail. I had picked out all of my plumbing, lighting, and appliances (I do this for a living so it was pretty easy) and we were ready to start cutting down trees to clear the lot. Well, as you can assume by now, that didn't work out for us but it's okay. Our dream is still to eventually build one day, but it just wasn't the right time.
I began the hunt for a house immediately after our lot fell through and actually found this cute house on Zillow. I reached out to our realtor and asked to see it. And well you know, the rest is history.
We are so happy with our decision of buying an older home as our first home. It had been completely renovated with hardwoods, stainless steel appliances and granite in all rooms. The timing was right. And, it just felt like home.
Our home.
Moving Day | October 2, 2014 |
Our home that will one day be a family of more than two, a home that we can call our "first" home, a home of many memories and a home that will always remain special in our hearts because this is where we began a life together as husband and wife.
Cheers to this past year and here's to many more sweet memories to be made.
Congrats on one year!! My husband and I are in the exact same boat. We were going to build a new house, then decided not to and are looking at older homes. It's exciting! We are moving from a one bedroom apartment so we will definitely have some empty rooms for a while too!
